“There is something about writing – something about jotting down how we’ve felt and what we’ve learned in a fleeting moment on a day that may have seemed otherwise unremarkable. We so often remember the grandest core memories – where God’s work so evident, He seemingly all but showed up and shook hands around the room. But when life moved fast, smaller moments move faster and even the most joyful ones dissipate to join those now forgotten. Journaling can preserve them.”

Find these songs and prayers that are inspired by the Psalms in my New Series: Journaling through the Seasons.

A Fall Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 27 and 86

Hear, O Lord, and answer me. I am hurting.

Once again, this storm is raging against me. I need Your gentle touch. You are my God. My faith and hope is in You. O Lord, please embrace me with Your extravagant unending love as I cry out for You. Bring calm to my chaos and return my joy. Strengthen my heart and show me Your favor. Hear my prayer, O Lord, and listen to my cry.

There is One thing I desire; let me dwell in Your house, O Lord, and may I see Your beauty. Teach me Your ways so I will be faithful to walk in Your truth. Let my life bring honor to Your name.

In my time of trouble, take me to the secret place and hide me. Show Your mercy to me and answer me. It is Your face I seek. I will wait on You and in the waiting I will lift up my soul and worship You. O Lord my God, there is no one like You.

Happiness and blessing comes to one who gives up sin. The woman who embraces the instruction of Your Word experiences the provision of a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil.

You give me rest from days of trouble. Your loving kindness holds me up, O Lord. When my worry is great within me, Your comfort brings joy to my soul.

You will never walk away from Your people. Rest assured that justice is on its way. Yes, O Lord, You are our strong place and the rock where we are safe. O Lord our God, there is no one like You.

A Fall Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalms 11, 12 & 13

Jehovah-Ganan – The Lord Our Defense—a Safe Place

Come quickly, Lord! For God-like people are here no more. The faithful can no longer be seen. So many lies are spoken. Their lips speak with sweet-sounding words that are not true.

I will run for dear life straight into Your arms. You are my only defense. You haven’t moved and are always the same. Your holy address hasn’t changed. As always, Your eyes take everything in, unblinking, examining inside and out, not missing a thing. You test the good and the bad alike; if anyone cheats, You are outraged. Fail Your test and a person is out, out in a hail of firestones, drinking from a canteen filled with hot desert wind.

praise11Your business is putting things right; You love setting us straight. Once we’re standing tall, we can look You straight in the eye. O Lord, You will keep us. You will keep us safe forever from the people of this day.

I choose to put my trust in Your loving kindness. My heart will be full of joy because You will save me.  I will sing to You because You have been good to me. In You, I am safe.

Oh, Lord, Your throne is in heaven. Your eyes see as You test everyone. You test and prove those who are right and good and those who are sinful and Your soul hates the one who loves to hurt others.

For You, Oh Lord, love what is right and good. Those who are right with You will see Your face and hear Your Words that are pure, like silver. O Lord, our Defender, keep us in Your loving care.

Keep us safe forever from the people of this day. Amen

A Fall Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 18

Jehovah-Misqabbi – Lord my High Tower

Song of Thanks for Being Kept Safe

The Lord is my strength, my rock and my safe place. He is the One Who takes me out of trouble. My God is my rock, in Whom I am safe. He is my safe covering, my saving strength and my strong tower. I call to the Lord, Who has the right to be praised and I am saved from those who hate me.  I call to the Lord in my trouble. I cry to God for help. He hears my voice from His holy house. My cry for help reaches His ears.

Lord, You give me a safe place, because You are pleased with me. You live in me! How great is my Rock! Praise be to the You, Lord, Who saves me!

Before Him I was without blame. And I have kept myself from sin. So the Lord has paid me back for being right with Him, and for my hands being clean in His eyes. To the faithful, He shows Himself faithful. To those without blame, He shows Himself blameless. With the pure, He shows Himself pure. He makes my lamp bright. The Lord my God lights my darkness. With my God I can jump over a wall.

Lord, You give me a safe place, because You are pleased with me. You live in me! How great is my Rock! Praise be to You, O Lord, Who saves me!

Your way is perfect. You are a covering for all who go to You. This blessed covering is a safe place. You also give me the covering that saves me. Your right hand holds me up. Your care makes me great. You make the road wide for my steps and my feet have not tripped.

Lord, You live in me! How great is my Rock! Praise be to You, Who saves me! Yes, You lift me above those who rise up against me. You save me from those who want to hurt me.  So I will give thanks to You, the Lord among the nations. And I will sing praises to Your name as You show loving kindness.

Oh! Let the heavens be glad and let the earth be full of joy. Let the sea and all that is in it make a loud noise. Let the fields and all that is in them be full of joy. Then, all the trees of the land will sing for joy before You. I am so glad!  You, O Lord, my safe covering, my saving strength and my strong tower, are coming.

A Fall Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 19, 28 & 32

Jehovah-’Ez-Lami –Lord my Strength and my Song.

Be glad in the Lord and be full of joy all you who are right with God. Sing for joy all you who are pure in heart for The Lord is our strength and safe cover.

Dear heavenly Father, the heavens tell of Your greatness and their vastness show the work of Your hand. Day to day, Your creation speaks of Your greatness as it rises from one end of the heavens to the other.

You are faithful to forgive the guilt of my sin. You are my hiding place. The place where I am safe and where I gain strength.  Your songs of freedom surround me.  Because I trust in You, I am embraced by Your loving-kindness.

Your Word is perfect, giving new strength to every soul. Your Word is right, giving joy to the heart. Your Word is pure, giving light to the eyes. The fear of You, O Lord is pure, lasting forever. You are always true and right in how You judge. Your Word is worth more than gold.

In obeying and choosing to live Your way, there is great reward. So please forgive my sins that I do not see. And keep me from sinning as I go my way. Do not let any sins rule over me. Let the words of my mouth and the desires of my heart be pleasing in Your eyes, O Lord, my Rock and the One Who saves me.

You are faithful to forgive the guilt of my sin. You are my hiding place. The place where I am safe and where I gain strength.  Your songs of freedom surround me.  Because I trust in You, I am embraced by Your loving-kindness.

Be glad in the Lord and be full of joy all you who are right with God. Sing for joy all you who are pure in heart for The Lord is our strength and safe cover.

A Fall Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 122, 123 & 124

Jehovah-‘Immeku “Lord is With You”

Judges 6:12

Yeah for Sunday! I was so glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”  Praise be to the Lord.

praising_god1If the Lord had not been on my side when people came against me, they would have swallowed me alive. The flood of critics would have engulfed me, tormented me and swept me away in the raging waters of their anger. I have escaped like a bird, but not by my strength.  My help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth

Unto You, O Lord, I lift up my eyes to the heavens.

As the eyes of a servant look to the hand of her master and the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so my eyes stay on You, my God, where I find strength, mercy and comfort. Continue to have mercy on me, O Lord. I still struggle. I am exceedingly filled with contempt and anger to those who find joy in tormenting me. I am desperate for Your strength, Your mercy and Your comfort.

I pray for peace to calm me. Let me prosper for I love you. Let peace rain within the walls of my home and prosperity come to the work of my hand. I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. You, O Lord, are my keeper; You are my shade. The sun will not strike me by day, nor the moon by night. You will preserve me from all evil; You will preserve my soul. You will preserve my going out and my coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.

Yeah for Sunday! I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

Song for the Spring Season adapted from Psalm 118

It is better to trust the Lord than to put our confidence in anything or anyone in this world.

The Lord is our strength and song, He has become our salvation. Truly the voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous.

May the Lord open the gates of righteousness so we can go through them and praise Him.

GOALSETTING SIMPLE ELEGANCE/GUEST-READY HOME/TIME MANAGEMENT AND PHYSICAL HEALTH: Lesson 24 Bonus Content

It’s imperative that you take care of your body. It is absolutely the only one you’ll get on this earth. So let’s live to the max and feel good while doing it                                                                                                                                                             Be Intentional

“If you always do what you’ve always done, then you’ll always have what you’ve already got” Susan Clark, Prioritize Organize The art of getting it done

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in the common hours.” Thoreau

Be Committed                                                                                                                                                  Feeling disappointment physically? The only one who can change the disappointment is You!   Choose to be committed to making a change.  Set Goals. Goals are the desired change and written objectives are the specific steps within a plan that will to desired change.  The committed goals are identified by our priorities. When the goals are reached is determined by detailed planning in the setting of Short Term goals and Long Term goals. Staying mindful and committed to the sprint accomplishes the short term goals. It’s the marathon that accomplishes the long term goals.  Staying committed will bring fulfillment. For this reason alone, we need to be committed to physical excellence. Women we need to take care of the body that God has given us. This is vital. Because the Holy Spirit does reside in us, we need to do our part in keeping this temple (our body) healthy. God has created beauty in us. So now is the opportunity to let all His beauty shine through us.                                                                                                                                                                                              Scripture Memorization:

“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.” Luke 6: 23

Commitment to excellence means “no compromise”. It means that you deliberately apply action to what you believe. It is a pledge to do what you set out to do, no matter the sacrifice it requires. It is a lifestyle of integrity, consistency and purpose. It is being connected to something bigger that yourself and intentional in all things.  Commitment is staying strong in your conviction when it’s no longer convenient.

The Study

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

Genesis 2:15

We were created to serve God.

I have been guilty of being physically critical of myself but finding it difficult to make improvements, Yes, anything worth pursuing takes Sacrifice. And most days the sacrifice seemed way too big and too hard especially when it meant giving up Sugar. After several years of routinely fueling my body with healthy foods and giving up the beloved sugar-filled sweets; I feel great.

Three Simple Nutritional Keys to A HEALTHY YOU

1. Stay hydrated…drink 64oz of water daily. (or half your weight in ounces of water per day) Measure your intake. Many times we feel hungry so we eat when we should be going for the water bottle because we are actually dehydrated.

Try drinking only water;  infusion water is the best ( I love adding lemon or lime, cucumber, orange slice, or several strawberries) and of course a cup of coffee in the morning.

2. Choose Whole Foods with lots of color. Focus on fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Also our bodies need a modest amount of protein to function well. (5-7 oz daily depending on age and level of activity)

 I love my smoothies!

3. DO NOT SKIP MEALS: Breakfast being your largest meal, Lunch being a moderate-size meal and Dinner being a lite bite especially if you are choosing to loose weight. Another options is to eat smaller portions 6 times daily instead of the traditional 3 meals daily. Recently dietitians suggest drinking water 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals and not during the meal. They suggest that it allows for digestive enzymes to process the food effectively resulting in the body benefiting from the antioxidants and nutrients that the whole foods provide.

YOU NEED REST If you struggle getting adequate rest, consider these 8 key strategies.

Treating sleep as a priority rather than a luxury could be a Huge Step to your Health.rest-and-relaxation1

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28
1. Pray. Giving all your cares to your Heavenly Father.
2. Stay away from caffeine, alcohol, nicotine or stimulants that interfere with sleep.
3. Turn your bedroom into a sleep-friendly place: quiet, dark, cool, and a bed that is equipped with a comfortable mattress and pillows.
4. Establish a soothing pre-sleep routine that includes bath, soft music, diming all lights and reading God’s Word.
5. During the day, expose yourself to natural light in the morning and during the day; this maintains your internal clock on a healthy sleep-wake cycle.
6.Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day which sets your internal clock assuring a higher quality of sleep.
7. Eat healthy with No food after 7:00pm and balance fluid intake eliminating your need for a bathroom trip or feeling thirsty during sleep hours keeping in mind it takes 90 minutes for the body to process liquids.
8. Exercise daily keeping your workout at least 3 hours before bedtime

Permanent, deep, full purpose of your very being is only found in a right relationship with God for Whom you were created.

Not only is your being created for God, but your doing is created for God also. You and I were created for commitment to serve God. In everything we do from curling our hair, feeding our family, cleaning our home, serving at church to volunteering at a soup kitchen; we do it to service to Him.

Commitment is easy to talk about, but challenging to put into action. It takes an incredible amount of discipline to stay on course. Knowing this, get an accountable partner to hold you to your goals; this will lead to personal success. Be a finisher of the goals you put in place and serve God whole heartily in all your doings.

Time is the most precious commodity we possess.

Women of excellence recognize it’s value so they use it wisely!

“Time management is the act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. Time management may be aided by a range of skills, tools, and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks, projects and goals complying with a due date. This set encompasses a wide scope of activities, and these include planning, allocating, setting goals, delegation, analysis of time spent, monitoring, organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing. Initially, time management referred to just business or work activities, but eventually the term broadened to include personal activities as well. A time management system is a designed combination of processes, tools, techniques, and methods. Usually time management is a necessity in any project development as it determines the project completion time and scope.” Wikipedia

Scripture Memorization:

“There is a special time for everything. There is a time for everything that happens under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
