A Fall Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 39, 54 & 71

Jehovah-Jireh – Provider

And my God will give you everything you need because of His great riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (NLV)

A Prayer of a mature Woman: “Do not be far from me”mature-woman

And now, Lord, what do I wait for? Save me from all my sins. O Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry. Do not be quiet when You see my tears so I may have joy again before I go and am no more.

I have a safe place in you, O Lord. Let me never be ashamed. I will be glad to give You a gift on the altar. I will give thanks to Your name, O Lord, for it is good. For You have taken me out of all trouble. And my eyes have looked without fear.

Because You are right and good, take me out of any trouble I may have brought upon myself. Turn Your ear to me and save me.  Be a rock to me where I live, where I may always come and where I will be safe.

For You are my hope, O Lord God. You are my trust since I was young.  You have kept me safe from birth. It was You Who watched over me from the day I was born. My praise is always of You.

And now, Lord, what do I wait for? Save me from all my sins. O Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry. Do not be quiet when You see my tears so I may have joy again before I go and am no more.

Do not be far from me! Save me by Your name, O God. And stand with me by Your power. Hear my prayer, O God. Listen to the words of my mouth. You are my Helper. You are the One Who keeps my soul alive. I will always have hope and I will praise You more and more. My mouth will tell about how right and good You are and about Your saving acts all day long for there are more than I can know. I will come in the strength of You, Lord. I will tell about how right and good You are and You alone.

And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. Save me from all my sins. O Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry. Do not be quiet when You see my tears so I may have joy again before I go and am no more.

You have taught me from when I was young. And I will faithfully tell about Your great works. Even as I grow old and my hair is turning white, O God, please do not leave me alone. Let me be a testament of Your strength to those I love and a testament about Your power to all who are to come. O God, You are right and good, as the heavens are high. You have done great things, O God. Who is like You?

O Lord, let me know my end and how many days I have to live. Let me know that I do not have long to stay here. You have made each of my days as long as a hand is wide. My whole life is nothing in Your eyes. Everyone is only a breath, at best. They walk here and there like a shadow. They store up riches, not knowing who will gather them.

And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. Save me from all my sins. O Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry. Do not be quiet when You see my tears so I may have joy again before I go and am no more.

A Fall Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 33, 35 & 36

Jehovah-M’gaddishcem – Lord my Sanctifier

I am Jehovah who makes you holy. Exodus 31:13b (TLB)

Song of Praise to the Lord my Sanctifier

The heavens were made by the Word of the Lord. All the stars were made by the breath of His mouth.  He gathers the waters of the sea together as in a bag. He places the waters in storehouses.  Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let all the people of the world honor Him. For He spoke, and it was done. He spoke with strong words, and it stood strong.  The Lord brings the plans of nations to nothing. He wrecks the plans of the people but the plans of the Lord stand forever. The plans of His heart stand through the future of all people.

Happy am I for He has chosen me for His own. My tongue will tell about how right and good God is, and about His praise all day long. My soul will be happy and full of joy because He did not give up on me.

But, My sin speaks loudly.  Within my heart, I still hold fast to sin. I lose fear of my God. In my own eyes, I make much of myself. I hate the sin in my life. My words are false. I lie to myself.                                    I have stopped being wise and doing good. My plans are for wrongdoing and my path is not good.

Why do I get such pleasure in my sin? Why do I not hate what is bad?

I put my head down in sorrow; You have seen it, O Lord. Do not keep quiet. O Lord, do not be far from me. Come and help me. Fight for me, my God and my Lord. Say what is right or wrong with me, O Lord my God, because You are right and good. Put in me a desire to tell about how right and good You are, and a longing to praise You all day long.  All that I am, may it be a reflection of Your holiness.

O Lord, Your loving kindness goes to the heavens. You are as faithful as the sky is high. You are as right and good as mountains are big. When You judge, You are as fair as a sea is deep.  My life came from You. In Your light I see light.  Keep on giving Your loving kindness to me. Do not give up on me.  Do not let the foot of pride come near me. Let Your presence be upon me as a reflection of Your holiness.

I will sing for joy and praise Your holy name with a new song. You are faithful and good to me. My tongue will tell about how right and good You are and about Your praise all day long. My soul will be happy and full of joy because You did not give up on me. Let Your presence stay with me.

DISCIPLINE: Lesson 18 supplement

The path to Excellence is a long, rough, rocky sloping road with no shortcut. To live at a higher level, we realize very quickly that the mental ingredient of discipline is the tool that manuevers us through the toughest curves and provides the stability to climb every slope. A disciplined life launches us to the experiences of God’s abundance and the joy of living in His presence.

It was here on our Christmas Tree Farm where God showed and taught me the true meaning of discipline.

Scripture Memorization

“And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9

Life provides hundreds of opportunities. We are given the challenge of realistically looking at the decisions we have made and evaluate whether our decisions measure to the standard of excellence. If we fall short of excellence according to biblical standard; we adjust our pursuit. If our goal really is excellence, we need to be prepared to stay the course with persistence and disciple.

The Benefits of Hard Work

The display of colors during the autumn season has not always been welcomed by my family of three sons. No color tour for us. It meant that hard work was just around the corner. Yes, we are Christmas tree farmers. While others were looking forward to hunting, fishing, watching football, or taking in their last round of golf–my sons were to embark upon a season of very hard work. To complicate the experience, harvest season happens whether there is sunshine, rain or snow. It meant long hours , hard labor, and sometimes difficult situations that made completing the task almost impossible.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might;  Eccelesiastes 9:10

So what possible benefit could their be from hard work especially when it brought discomfort of freezing hands, wet clothes, and equipment failure. These long hours taught our sons discipline, grit and diligence in all things.  They experienced internal wealth of a pride for a job well done.   Not only were they good starters but great finishers. The bonus benefit was family togetherness and of course a  paycheck.

Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than people. Ephesians 6:7 Our product, the Christmas tree, was unique. We were producing a excellent product that would be the centerpiece in every home that would be celebrating the birth of our Savior.  So the greatest benefit to this hard work was literally doing it unto our heavenly Father.

The Study

What is self-discipline?

Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. Without self-discipline our intentions will not be accomplished. But with sufficient self-discipline, it’s a done deal. You will know when  you have arrived at the pinnacle of self-discipline when you make a conscious decision and its virtually guaranteed you will follow through on it.

How do you acquire self-discipline?

Self-discipline is a life skill that requires practice. You have to decide to live intentionally.  Set goals and work hard to accomplish whatever aspiration or task you have decided to tackle and don’t stop until it is finished. The environment that presented the opportunity to develop the skills of discipline and hard work for me was in the Christmas tree field. Yes, I am a Christmas tree farmer. The fields and the business of growing and retailing Christmas trees  taught me this:

You must produce a quality product.

Good practices must be a routine to produce a quality product.

Time limits are automatically in place dictated by the season to perform the good practices that produce a quality product.

Accountability appears at harvest time revealing whether we have done every thing required to produce a premium Christmas tree. It is shown in the number of harvestable trees and in the products final grade.

In life the same is true. You must plan for excellence by virtue of planning to finish well what you have started. Set the goal, make a plan and see it through to excellence.

Decisions we make for ourselves will affect us throughout our entire lives. We must choose to be  hard workers and disciplined to experience God’s best for our lives. See choosing to sidestep boundaries and taking shortcuts because it appears easy and gratifying will be short-lived and painful. If our goal is to live God’s way–one of excellence, we need to be prepared to stay the course. Being patient and diligent with what God has entrusted to us, nurturing it the best we know how, we will then grow into women of excellence.

Mary’s Song

 Luke 1:46-55 ,The Message (MSG)

  ” And Mary said,

I’m bursting with God-news;

I’m dancing the song of my Savior God.

God took one good look at me, and look what happened—

I’m the most fortunate woman on earth!

What God has done for me will never be forgotten,

the God whose very name is holy, set apart from all others.

His mercy flows in wave after wave

on those who are in awe before him.

He bared his arm and showed his strength,

scattered the bluffing braggarts.

He knocked tyrants off their high horses,

pulled victims out of the mud.

The starving poor sat down to a banquet;

the callous rich were left out in the cold.

He embraced his chosen child, Israel;

he remembered and piled on the mercies, piled them high.

It’s exactly what he promised”

Mary was a chosen privileged vessel to be the mother of the Son of God. She clearly did not claim to understand it but responded willingly. Her response to God’s call on her life was to simply worship in humble acknowledgement of God’s touch on her life. A disciplined life as woman of faith also requires us to be obedient to God’s call.  Our challenge is to embrace God’s call, pursue it willingly, obey and humbly worship.

John 2 : 5 “Whatever Jesus says to you, do it.”

A disciplined life will launch you to the experiences of God’s abundance and the joy of living in His presence. And your reward for obedience to His call is fulfillment, joy and blessings beyond measure. Be intentional giving Him your praise for His goodness.

Promise

“Come to me and I will give you rest–all of you who work so hard. ”

Blessing

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…be glory and majesty…both now and forever.”

A Fall Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 5, 14, 52, 53 & 130

Jehovah-Go’el –  The Lord our Redeemer.

Hear my words, O Lord.

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice.  Think about my crying.  Hear my cry for help, my King and my God. For I pray to you. In the morning I will lay my prayers before You and will look up for You are my Redeemer.

Hear my words, O Lord.

You are not a God Who is pleased with what is bad. The sinful cannot be with You. The proud cannot stand before You. You hate all who do wrong and those who lie.

Will those who sin never learn? They eat up people like they eat up bread. They do not call on Your name.  They live in much fear.

 Hear my words, O Lord.

My heart is heavy for those who choose to live foolishly as if there is no

God. Their ways are sinful and they continue to do bad things. There is no one who does good.

God, You look down from heaven at us to see if there is anyone who understands and looks for You.  And we have all turned back to sin.

Is there no one who does good, not even one?  Do those who sin have understanding? This is why they do not call upon You? Why do we take pride in wrongdoing when we know Your loving kindness lasts all day long?

Our tongue makes plans to destroy like a sharp knife.  We love what is bad more than what is good and we speak lies more than we speak the truth. We love words that destroy.  There we are, in much fear, when there is nothing to be afraid of.  Instead, we are put to shame because You have turned away from us.

A Fall Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 135 & 136

Jehovah-Elyon

Lord Most High

Thank you Lord, for You are so good! Your faithful love lasts forever.

Thank you Lord, for You are the God of gods. Your faithful love lasts forever.

Thank you Lord, for You are the Lord of lords. Your faithful love lasts forever.

Praise Your holy name!

I will stand within the walls of Your house. I will Praise Your name for You are good.  I will sing praises to Your name, for it is sweet.

Thank you Lord, for You alone do mighty miracles. Your faithful love lasts forever.

Thank you Lord, for You made the heavens so skillfully. Your faithful love lasts forever.

Thank you Lord, for You placed the earth among the waters. Your faithful love lasts forever. I know that You are great. You are greater than all gods. You do whatever is pleasing to You, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all waters.

Thank you Lord, You who made the heavenly lights—Your faithful love lasts forever. The sun to rule the day, and the moon and stars to rule the night. Your faithful love lasts forever.

You make the clouds rise from the ends of the earth. You make lightning come with the rain. You bring the wind out from where You store Your riches.

O Lord, Your name lasts forever and will be remembered for all time. I give honor, praise and thanks to You for Your faithful love lasts forever.

A Fall Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 132, 134 & 139

Jehovah-Nissi – Banner.

I will give honor and thanks to the Lord.

I will lift up my hands to the holy place and give thanks to the Lord.  May the Lord bring good to me for He is the One Who made heaven and earth. When I am awake, I am still with Him. He looks through me and knows my heart, tries me and knows my thoughts.  He sees any sinful way in me and leads me in the way that lasts forever.

O Lord, You have looked through me and have known me.

You know when I sit down and when I get up. You understand my thoughts from far away.  You look over me as I walk my path and as I lay down. You know all my ways very well.

Even before I speak a word, O Lord, You know it all.

You have closed me in from behind as well as in front. You img_2302have laid Your hand upon me. All You know is too great for me. It is too much for me to understand. For You made the parts inside me. You put me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to You, for the greatness of the way I was made brings fear. Your works are great and my soul knows it very well. Your eyes saw me before I was put together. And all the days of my life were written in Your book before any of them came to be.

Your thoughts are of great worth to me, O God.

How many there are!  If I could number them, there would be more than all the sands of the earth.

For the Lord has chosen me. This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. My God will abundantly bless and will satisfy. I will shout for joy for the Lord has chosen me.

A Summer Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 66 & 72

Song of Praise and Thanks to God

worship-2

I will honor the Lord for His glory and His strength. I will honor the Lord for the glory of His name, worshipping Him in the splendor of His holiness. God keeps me alive and keeps my feet on solid ground. He has tested me, making me pure as silver. He has blessed me with much more than I could ever need. In response to His goodness, I will come into His house with my offering, returning a portion of what He has given to me.

My heart’s desire is to honor and thank my Lord.

The Lord is faithful to give me strength when in need. He will keep me alive and will keep my feet on solid ground. The Lord will bless me with peace. Praise the Lord God, Who alone does wonderful things. Praise His glorious name forever!  I will tell you what He has done for me. I will cry out to Him with my mouth and praise Him with my voice. I am aware that the Lord will not hear me if I hold on to the sin in my heart.  So I daily ask forgiveness to be sure that God has heard. He has listened to my prayer.

My heart’s desire is to honor and thank You, my God.

A Summer Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 84

A Summer Prayer Expressing A Desire for God’s House

How beautiful are the places where You live, O Lord of all! Happy are those who live in Your house! Happy and thankful are those who find strength in You. You, Lord God, are my sun and my safe covering. You give favor and honor. You hold back nothing good from those who walk in the way that is right. O Lord of all, how happy are those who trust in You!

For surely a day in Your house is better than a thousand elsewhere.

Send Your fresh rain. Make it spring for me, O Lord of all, my King and my God.

My soul wants and even becomes weak wanting to be in Your house. My heart and my flesh sing for joy to You, the living God. O Lord God of all, hear my prayer and look upon the face of Your anointed one. I choose to be in Your presence above any worldly honor. God, protect me and show me Your favor for I desire to experience Your goodness today.

For a day in Your house is truly better than a thousand elsewhere.

A Summer Prayer of Petition and Blessing adapted from Psalm 37

Be happy in the Lord. And He will give you the desires of your heart.

I will trust in the Lord, and will seek His goodness daily. His promises I will embrace. I will enjoy living well in His beautiful land and I will be well fed. I am happy living His way for He knows my every desire.

Oh sweet friend, give your way over to the Lord. Do not be like those who do wrong, for they will soon dry up like the grass. Like the green plant, they will soon die. But God and His promises are forever. Trust in Him and He will make you as the light and your wise actions as the noonday. Rest in the Lord and be willing to wait for Him. Do not trouble yourself when all goes well with the one who carries out his sinful plans.  Stop being angry. Turn away from fighting. It leads only to wrongdoing.  For those who do wrong will be cut off. But those who wait for the Lord will be given the desire of their hearts.  A little while and the sinful one will be no more. You will look for their place and they will not be there. But those who put their trust in God will enjoy eternal happiness and have much more than they could ever need.

I will trust in the Lord and seek His goodness. I will enjoy His beautiful land. I will be happy living God’s way and will take comfort that He knows the desires within my heart. I will find peace resting and waiting. I have given my ways over to the Lord and trust Him. My being right and good is shown as the light and my wise actions as the noonday. The few belongings of those right with God is surely better than the riches of the ungodly. For the Lord guides each step I take and I willingly follow. In this obedience, I experience all His love, goodness and kindness.

Oh sweet friend, turn from sin and do good so you will live forever and experience the true joy of your salvation. For the Lord loves what is fair and right. He does not leave the people alone who belong to Him. They are kept forever. The mouth of the one who is right with God speaks wisdom. And their tongue speaks what is fair and good. The Law of his God is in their heart. His steps do not leave it. Wait for the Lord. Keep His way. He will give you a high place and you will find strength in Him during times of trouble.

I will trust in the Lord, and will seek His goodness daily. His promises I will embrace. I will enjoy living well in His beautiful land and I will be well fed. I am happy living His way for He knows my every desire.

A Summer Song of Worship and Praise adapted from Psalm 1, 8 & 9

Jehovah-Shammah – Present – Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you or let you be alone.”

praise2

God, brilliant Lord, Yours is a household name. I’m thanking You, God, from a full heart. I’m whistling, laughing and jumping for joy; I’m singing Your song, O Lord. You took over and set everything right; when I needed You, You were there, taking charge.

You hold the high center; You see and set the world’s mess right. You decide what is right for us and will never leave us alone. You are a safe house, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment I arrive in Your sanctuary, I feel safe. I relax and am never sorry I knocked and entered into Your presence.

O Lord, my Lord, how great is Your name in all the earth. You have set Your shining greatness above the heavens. I look up and think about Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in their places. Who am I but an ordinary person? Yet you, the God of heaven, think me worthy of your care and goodness.

Out of the mouths of children and babies; nursing infants sing their choruses to You; toddlers shout their songs. You made us a little less than the angels. You made us to rule over the works of Your hands. You put all things under our feet: all sheep and cattle, all the wild animals, the birds of the air, the fish of the sea and all that pass through the sea.

O Lord, our Lord, how great is Your name in all the earth. I will shout the songs with the children and praise Your holy name. Your presence in my life brings me great joy.

Continue to be kind to me, God. I’ve been kicked around long enough. You’ve pulled me back from the gates of death and I now have joy. I’ll write the book on hallelujahs on the corner of Main and First. I’ll hold a street meeting; I’ll be the song leader; we’ll fill the air with salvation songs. Genuine happiness comes to the one who does not walk in a sinful way or stand in the path of sinners or sit with those who laugh at the truth. Everlasting joy is in You, Lord, and I am mindful day and night of Your goodness to me. I am like a tree planted by rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time. Its leaves never dry up. My household is blessed and I am confident that whatever I do will work out well for me, for You, Lord, have found favor with my household.

I’m thanking You, God, from a full heart. I’m whistling, laughing and jumping for joy; I’m singing Your song, O Lord.  For You, O Lord, know the way of those who are right with You. And I am thankful. For Your presence in my life brings me great joy.
